RF> For these reasons I am wondering if ADD in girls is different.
RF> Thanks in advance. I hope I am not bugging you with my many
RF> questions as you seem to be one of those people here who has done
RF> quite a bit of research. Any info would be appreciated.
MP> I did a bit of editing...She certainly sounds like a cutey...and one
MP> who needs a good looking at...
MP> Russell Barkley has been addressing gender specificity for over a year
MP> now in the ADHD report. This seems to be one very important area of
MP> research. (Not to brag....but I emailed with Barkley after I posted my
MP> usual rant about the ADD girls in alt.support.attn-deficit and he read
MP> it.) So, Regina, you are right up there with the best of the best...
Thanks alot I really appreciate it.
MP> There seems to be several different types of ADHD/ADD, even more than

MP> What this young lady needs is a thorough work up by someone who
MP> ***really*** knows ADHD/ADD. What part of the US do you live in? If
MP> you are in the northeast, I would suggest going directly to
MP> Hallowell/Ratey/Barkley at Mass General in Boston. If not, then let me
MP> know, I may have some ideas.
We live in Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. My daughters kids are on
Medicaid. My granddaughter was here again today. Drove me nuts. She
just ran and ran and ran. She first came in crying over the fact her
shoes were taken off. Was fine after a few minutes. I had to play with
her and then she played with my kids. I
noticed she got out a coloring book and crayons to color and than instead
of coloring she took out all the crayons and arranged them in a row.
Really strange. She later took a crayon to draw and all of a sudden
quit to move on to whatever. I've been looking at her alot lately as
my daughter gets quite exhausted with her. I do too. She has been giving
me the crayons lately to do the coloring. She really didn't want to go
home again today. I believe she will be ready to stay the nite soon.
I have never taken her for the nite. I did once when her brother was
born, but she is so attached to dad. When you try to get her to take
a nap she gets really upset. Especially if she is not home. I really
appreciate the info. Thanks.
Regina
