About Pawn Shop, what exactly is wrong about Gems handling? Need any
details you can provide. I'm not checking Fidonet mail very often, due to
not much going on here in recent months. So send me email with list of
changes you'd like to see in Pawn Shop, and I'll see what can be done.
Email addy to use is ktidmore {at} bellsouth.net.
As for Caverns, which one are you referring to? Caverns of the Creators, I
know little about, other than that it is by Ken Weitzel. You'll have to ask
him to update it, if that is the one you refered to.
If you're talking about L.O.R.D. Cavern, I spent the summer and Fall
working on it. Try v1.5 and see if you still have the same complaint about
imbalance. You can get it here:
http://www.geocities.com/donaldtidmore/Lordapps/.
The whole IGM now has built-in limitations for all rewards, plus penalties,
so there is less chance someone can use the IGM to quickly advance upward
in game level. At lower levels 1-6 that is. Levels 7+ already were
complex enough that no IGMs I've seen really can have a huge effect on
competition between several dozen players in a Lord game.
And if you meant Caves of Despair, it is abandoned software. I was never
able to find the authors anywhere. Those are the only IGMs with
"Cave" in the title. Other than Old Man's Cave - never could get
it to work at 933 Mhz.
If you or anyone wants to try out the current beta of Pawn Shop v2.01,
write me an email message. There is an unresolved bug with the igm's
maintenance causing Lord to shut down. But it does not cause any lasting
damage to player.dat that I've been able to see. If you can handle
rewriting batch files to re-load Lord if maint.bat causes a problem, then
it should be fully usable, igm-wise, on a bbs.
At the moment, due to Am working on figuring out cause of the psetup
/m problem, and then killing off the gremlin. IGM is still single-use
type, and I'm waiting for word back from author, Chris MacPherson, about
whether it needs to stay that way. There is a lot of interaction between
current player and owner (when they are separate people), that may not be
easy to handle in a multi-node situation.
As for Lord Cavern, and future updates. None are planned until such time
as there is a Lord for Windows beta that I can use to test 32-bit operation
under. What with Preslar dropping out of sight, there is no way to know
when that will be possible. Possibly could have
someone do a 32-bit conversion of Lord Cavern now, though, to work under
Lord for Linux's beta. But would need to know that more than a few people
wanted that done, before I investigated doing the work. Donald
