It may justbe in hibernate mode - try removing Power Supply board and
battery, if this doesn't work remove all PCMCIA cards and any additional
memory. Oh yes on some Thinkpad's there's a reset button - search for a
small hole where you can push a wire (I usually use a straightened paper
clip) in to push a reset switch.

Failing all of this - why not download the hardware maintenance manual
