in the US, residential lines are $15US to $30US per month with no charges
for time usage on local calls... longdistance is a whole other matter,
though... depending on service choosen, you may pay 5cents a minute on one
plan or 99cents for 20 minutes and 7cents a minute after that on another
plan...

business lines are $45US and up per line per month with no charge for local
calls and the same type longdistance stuff...

the above are POTS (plain old telephone system) numbers... ISDN is a whole
other matter... in some areas, it is available to residential and
business... in other areas, it is business only... some have a flat fee per
month for X amount of usage and other have a flat fee plus metered cost for
traffic and connection times...
