Well as you seem to be the sid player expert, > why dont you go through some of the common ones & find them out? > (-: Well, in ALL JCH tunes there are two $d418 "pokes", one is in the init routine, and one is at the end of the main player loop. If you hunt through for "18 D4" you find both... the first one is the init one. From memory, DMC 1.2 is very similiar, in fact, I'd say that it's exactly the same (different memory locs though). VoiceTracker might be a bit different, I'll check and get back to you. > Yes, I think all you will see are lots of lights that appear to > be on continuously, unless your eye can catch things that are > changing at a million times a second (-: What? I'm thinking about it... at the moment though, I'm just trying to find some time to relax (been a rather stressful few weeks) > TM>Oh yea of little faith... ;) > Well, considering Epic has been 'almost finished' for literally > 1 1/2 years, I have reason to be skeptical (: (sp?). Thank god > TBH cant read this echo, else I'd be a dead man (-: Hey, there's one important factor here... I'm not TBH! ;) And Moonlight is definately not "nearly finished" either. > Source doesnt really worry me, its more -how- the different > effects work, and what they are. Hmm, JCH's, DMC and Voicetracker can all do this... it's just not used that much. > I might do a simple track/pattern player soon, just for > samples. Is there a way to control the volume of a sample? What happens if you chop the top two bits (or so) off the top of a sample? Also, what would happen if you got an eight bit sample, and played the high nybble on one SID, and the low nybble on another SID? Would that constitute eight bit sound? There is a new program coming out that has full eight bit sampling on the 64... commercial though :( I might buy it anyway, as it has some info on connecting an Amiga sampler to the 64... speaking of which, do you think you could tell me why all I get from my sample is a VERY distorted of what I'm playing through it? Yes, I was trying to modify the volume nobs and the imput level, but even if the level was at .001 of the volume it still distorted majorly. And turning it up seemed to make no difference (except that it cuts out sometimes). > In fact you could probably use the whole high nibble of the > sample # for effects, as you are not likely to have more than 16 > samples per cannel (samples eat memory) How about a "blitter" effect, ie: turning the sample on and off, while still updating the sample pointer... > Yeah, well I'm not going to do it unless I am truly desperate, > and its a file I just HAVE to have. (as long as it is sent in a > message as text, its not a problem - limit for messages is > 2million or something chars (: ) Perhaps you could write an article for them about sampling? With demo programs and so-on.
