THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Such a simple problem so easily overlooked. And a
possible major security problem. This means that one could access
administrative access on many os2 computers that don't have the above
logon disabled? I seem to remember when installing to overwrite my
chosen  username and password over USERID and PASSWORD, but
inadvertently only set  myself up as a user. 

I thought I set up both my thinkpad and desktop the same, but the
thinkpad is proper with my chosen user name and password as
administrator and no USERID listed. I'll have to watch for that next
time. On the desktop, I have now set my chosen logon as administrator,
and will logon as that and delete USERID from the USER list.
