Hi y'all;
Because I don't like powerBASIC's IDE, I have been developing a better
editor over the past several weeks. It have been developed suffiently
that i now use it with PBC in all my development.
I think I have a product that other would like to use. "In" are the
subs and function menus that I liked in QB. Also, I like the keywords
forced to upper-case. That's visual comfirmation that it is spelled
correctly. But, there are about the only feature I carried over.
What is unique in my baby is the asthetics. Since almost everyone has
a color display, I *use* it. Commented lines are green, quoted text
are purple, metastatements are white, target labels are yellow. It
really livens up an otherwise dull display, and adds useful
information.
Another unique feature is that this editor indents as you type. The
makes the source code very readible without any need to play with the
tab key. Add or remove a DO, all the lines will follow.
Compile and run-time errors are initially displayed on a status line,
but ALT-E will display the full text of the error in a box. This is
handy for beginners. I want to have context sensitive help for
keywords: Usage and syntax would be great. But, I don't have the time
to do all that typing. If anyone has some text on this, I would
appreciate it.
Because the display line code is in assembly, this editor is quite
fast. However, I haven't tried on my 286 yet.
Anyway, if any of you would like to comment on this project, I would
appreciate that. I'd like to know what features you like to see. I
have provided for all the standard features one might find in an
editor. This one simply has been customized for PowerBASIC.
I would like to release a *test* version, but this is not my game. I
probably need to find an SDN-FAQ.
