Hello Tom -

CA>>> IT stil has it's glitches that will keep it form the Big
CA>>> Time.

CA>> I know of nothing I would categorize as a 'glitch' in any
CA>> of the versions of KNOPPIX - seriously.

TW> I would say that detecting a Printer, correctly identifying
TW> it, Going throgh a "Set up Routine" and NOT haveing it WORK
TW> might, don't you think?

Printer manuf were some of the _first_ to attempt to become
proprietary to force customers to remain 'loyal' or find
themselves scrambling for printer drivers. Users needing
printer drivers was one of the more common topics on FIDO and
elsewhere. I think you are blaming KNOPPIX for a problem
created by the printer manuf.

CA>> I'll go out on a limb here and predict that KNOPPIX and
CA>> other 'livecd' versions of Linux will kill off Linspire
CA>> dead dead dead (and forgotten).

TW> I don't know how anyone can think that a operate from a CD
TW> will ever get very far.

KNOPPIX is already widely known and now there are other
'livecd' versions of Linux out there too. It's growing.

TW> But Knoppix has a very long ways to go before it is simple
TW> and easy to instal and use IMHO. AHAIN the first point it
TW> MUST instal lwithout much operator interaction on a Hard
TW> Drive.

KNOPPIX does install quite easilly. See the other message to me
from Wayne Chirnside who has done this already.

TW> And all this Mystic stuff about root and setting up users
TW> and all that is NOT going to fly in the REAL market out
TW> there.

Not setting up user accounts and using them is one of the
things that has to be changed if we are all to survive the
internet with it's hordes of thieves out there attempting to
profit by illegal means.

Apparently there are even Linux users ignorant of the proper
way to use the OS who continue to operate with administrative
privileges 24/7 but this has to change or we're all going to be
offline reinstalling our OS more than we are online using it.

TW> IT is only a First Step for those with some under the hood
TW> computer know how. Adn I realisticly cannot see them being
TW> satisfied for very long if having the hassly of operating
TW> off a CD.

KNOPPIX installs to the hard drive. Your insistance that it
does not is either disingenuous or you are misinformed.
