I remember a phrase from my U of A soils class: "A little bit of clay
goes a LONG, LONG WAY!" I wonder if sand would improve the drainage.
It's odd how an international echo changes your perspective on things;
if you were in Phoenix, I would suggest you do what everyone here does if you
need a lot of FREE sand - go down to the Salt River bottom and load up. The
Salt River is DRY about 350 days out of the year because of the dams that
they use for DROUGHT CONTROL more than flood control, the reason that water
is still cheap and plentiful here in the Valley of the Sun. Maybe you have
some dry washes in your area where you can get sand, or maybe a beach?
