I personally saw George perform on that tour. I have to agree with you
that it was pretty bad and got bad reviews. Unfortunately, George had
a sore throat and instead of canceling the tour, tried to fake it by
singing just a little (in a bad voice) and having the band carry the
rest.  To make matters worst, much of the material he chose to do
stressed his religious beliefs.  Most Americans were not interested in
hearing a Hindu religious revival.

According to May Pang, John was supposed to have make a guest
appearance at one concert, but did not perform.
