I don't use one here,  but for that sort of thing (any application, 
really),  it's a good idea to check back from time to time.  Things tend to
change awfully fast in linux software.  The freshmeat site is a good
example of this, and if there's some programs in particular you're
interested in hearing about you can get the site to email you when new
versions come out.
