DD>How long can you sustain them in this medium? That's what I'd like to
DD>know....Let me know when they have flowered.
You, and everyone else will hear about it; trust me on that one!
I carefully took out (floated out is more accurate) all five
cuttings yesterday to inspect the root growth.
In a tub of room-temperature water, I lowered the plastic pot
into the tub. The pellets floated off the stalk, and when I
removed the stalks, small particles were found clinging to the
stem at what I hope are strategic places.
At this point I took the opportunity to remove the withered
leaves, leaving some small tender shoots. I replaced most of the
foam in the pot, replaced the five stalks, and added the rest of
the foam.
I placed a LOOSE elastic band around the upper part of the stalks
to draw the heads together, making a tee-pee kind of structure.
Flower or not, I think the true measure of a successful
strike is when I get to take a cutting from a plant that
I propagated as a cutting. That is, when the child is
strong enough to be a parent, I've succeeded.
