Here is what I have so far on some of the stuff we were discussing.
International Artists issued 15 LPs. Here is what I have so far on them.
ARTIST TITLE #
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
13th Floor Elevators Psychodelic Sounds IA LP-01
Red Krayola Parable of Arable Land IA LP-02
Lost & Found Everybody's Here IA LP-03
13th Floor Elevators Easter Everywhere IA LP-05
Lightnin Hopkins Free Form Patterns IA LP-06
Red Krayola God Bless the Red Krayola
                           and all Those Who Sail
                           With It IA LP-07
13th Floor Elevators Live IA LP-08
13th Floor Elevators Bull of the Woods IA LP-09
Bubble Puppy Gathering of Promises IA LP-10
Dave Allen Color Blind IA LP-11
Endle St. Cloud Thank You All Very Much IA LP-12
I don't know what their LP numbers 4, or 13-15 are right now. Will work on
it.
IA also put out several 45s of some artists that didn't have enough material
for an LP. Some of these groups were The Coastliners, Frankie and Johnny,
and the Chains. I should have a complete discography of these in about a
week.
In 1979, a boxed set came out with all 15 IA LPs in it. It sold for $129.95
back then. The price on that has dropped substantially over the last decade
though, and it especially dropped after whatever company that bought IA
started releasing the IA library on CD. Now, almost all former IA albums are
available on CD (for those who just want to groove to the music). Collectors
like myself though, still want the old albums.
As far as the Strawberry Alarm Clock, there were 4 albums they put out on Uni
which represents their core work. They were: Incense and Peppermints (67),
Wake Up It's Tomorrow (67), World in a Seashell (68) and Good Morning
Starshine (69). A compilation of their best material came out in (70) as a
Best Of album. After their contract with Uni expired, they put out one more
album (on Vocalion), called Changes (71), which was their final album. That
album however, was only a shadow of the former quality of their work. The
group also did music for two soundtracks: Psych-Out (68) and Beyond the
Valley of the Dolls (70).
I would be interested in any of these records, if they are not gouge priced.
(It's hard to find records from these groups that aren't priced to gouge.)
Let me know what you come up with!
