| subject: | Copy laptop partition |
In general how can I copy a partition from a laptop. If this were a
desktop I would plug in another HDD and use PM to copy the partition,
probably while booted from a DOS floppy.
In this particular case it is a new laptop that of course came with
WinXP. My initial inclination is to clean the HDD and start fresh. I
need a Win system, but 98SE has served so far, and from what little I
have seen of XP I don't think it is anything I need. So far it seems
like a lot of extra trouble for nothing. However, I would like to
copy the HDD in case I change my mind.
In the event you might suggest the LAN, at the moment my attempts to
get XP to see the LAN have a router object in Local Network, but no
other box or cable modem that is connected to the router. It seems to
have the correct workgroup name. I never have seen a router object
before.
I think the unit has about every type of IO there is.
