Hello Tom -

Try to get OBERON setup and operational and there _are_ no
'users groups' to help you. ;-)

TW> WHY dosen't it work a little easier and simpler?

I think you could guess at the answer to that question.
Personal computer hardware is built to work with Windows. If it
can work for _any_ other OS that is a coincidence not
necessarilly intended when it was designed/manufactured. At
this point in time newer systems may or may not work with any
version of DOS? Any OS that is not a Winodws variant that you
can name or even imagine is going to require user intervention
to configure it properly to work with what is primarilly
Windows hardware (winmodems spring to mind among others).

TW> UNTIL LINUX Does it will Always be a "Also Ran" far back in
TW> the pack.

On Intel platform hardware GNU/Linux appears to be #2 right
_after_ Windows. I wouldn't consider that "far back in the
pack", there is no "pack". After GNU/Linux there is next to
nothing in terms of an OS that is commonplace on new Intel
platform personal computer systems. Legacy systems _might_ be
using some version of DOS (cloned or ...)?

Apple's OSX would, of course, be #2 if you include all hardware
platforms. :-)
