Paul,

PE> Could you do me a favour and log on to the Dick Smith
PE> Electronics BBS and try downloading a file, and tell me
PE> what CPS rate you get. The number is 878-1146. BFN.

Done.

Requested 4 files:

BBSALL.LZH 87K
BBSFALL.LZH 82K
LHA213.EXE 70K
F3FIX1.ZIP. 30K

The interesting thing is when I was downloading the first file
(BBSALL.LZH), I was getting a transfer rate of 520CPS. Then I aborted
the transfer, and restarted it, and the average CPS rate jumped to
1077CPS !!.

So I again aborted the transfer, deleted the remnants of this file,
because Zmodem auto recovers, and started it again. >1000CPS again.

The remaining files also transferred at 1080CPS.

I also logged on to 2000 & Beyond BBS, and transferred a 350K file, and
though I had an exteremly noisey line (about 50 CRC errors), the average
transfer rate was around 860 CPS.

This was one-time transfer, not aborted in any way.

Does this help ?

Dieter
