For "static" disks - ie you want to create a DVD but then wipe
and re-use it
later (DVD-RW or +RW disks)
1. Use DVDDAO instead the latest CDRecord/2 has dropped DVD support and
actually stiplulate that DVDDAO should be used instead.
or
2. Buy the latest RSJ and use that.

For "work disks" - ie you want to simply use the DVD as extra
"exchangable
disk" storage, writing to, deleting from and changing on a file by file basis
(again on DVD-RW or DVD+RW disks).
1. Use the latest UDF drivers from Software Choice or eCS site. The disk will
then simply become a new disk (albeit slower that a "real"
harddisk). Note only
OS/2 with these drivers or Windows XP can read an update a UDF formatted DVD.
or
2. Buy the latest RSJ and use that.

As for drives, I use a Pioneer 105D, the later 106 and 107 range are
"multi-format" ie DVD+ and - mine is only DVD -. There are some
new "dual
density" 8.5GB DVD drives available now from Sony and others, I don't know how
compatible they are with the OS/2 applications mentioned above.

Cheers/2

Ed.
