Quite true. I've often said that very few people would tune into a show
called "Solved Mysteries." Indeed, I know skeptics who have had incidents
with that particular show in which they DID solve the "mystery," but that
portion was left out of the final airing because it would have shot the whole
thing in the foot (Joe Nickell calls the show "Unsolving Mysteries").
There is also the problem that it takes one sentence to state a wild claim.
It may take several pages to show that the statement is wrong. Those several
pages may get rather boring and tedious, thus allowing those who have short
attention spans to just gloss over it.
