BP> I was never into competition....except with myself.....:) and I don't
BP> want to walk, or ride a bike for speed alone. That's way I would not
BP> buy a racing bike and ride it on the road. Though I must say them new
BP> mountain bikes I see around now....well they are a dream come true
BP> Hey they are like my Suzuki 4x4......
How's that, Top Heavy and prone to roll over? (Couldn't resist that)
LR> BP> I certainly does, Leah....Thanks for the info...and give an oldtimer
LR> BP> on his antiquated bike a smile when you zoom past him or her...
LR>Can I ask how old you are and what kind of a bike you have? I really
LR>thought you were kidding me about the computer....:-)
Ditto that. This old 69 year curmudgeon only rides to keep the ankles
and knees limber enough to enable walking. I tried one of those
computer dealies and the Turkeys that installed it for me just put
it on with little plastic tiewraps. The wires were hanging down
and the first time I rode in the pasture they ripped off. Lousy
deal if you ask me. BTW my old biuke is a Trek 800. Simple and
Rugged and cheaper than a lot of them.
BP> As far as my bike goes it is a Malvern Star Bogart MS-CTBI made of
BP> Dynaloy Precision Tubing. with 10 gears, it's painted white, with
BP> 26x1.75 wheels and tyres, mudguards and carrier so I can ride it under
BP> all weather conditions and not give myself a shower when doing so. I
BP> had it now for about 5 years. On the average I ride my bike about 3000
BP> to 5000 km annually, depending on how long I go away on long
BP> Walkabouts, which could be anywhere from one to four month....see if I
BP> had a bike computer I could tell you exact figures.....might have to
BP> get one after all.....>>
Are we talking English here? Had to make the comment. I too antagonize
a bit now and then.
BP> When the young kids with their BMX bikes, which nowadays exist in all
BP> kinds of queer shapes ...look at mine, which is in their eye as queer
BP> as theirs is in mine....I have to chuckle....hehehe. They probably
BP> think hey look he even has a chain that isn't rusty....>
What do Teenyboppers know anyway? They used to laugh at my old Western
Flyer Bike back in the 1930's because it was stripped down to the bare
frame. no fenders, no luggage rack, no lights, no horn, nothing but
Frame and wheels with a Pearson's Saddle on it. I could start from
a standstill and outrun them all with their fancy bikes. Of course
that was over 55 years ago. I have mellowed out a bit since then.
