no, not really... the hardest part is to locate a system near you if you
want to do POTS connections... otherwise, internet gets you right beside
everyone... you still need to locate a net in your geographical area,
though, if you are to join fidonet as an operator and not just a user... a
user can use any fido system they sign up on...
