My wife and I use her method, partly.  We use a curriculum with lots
of literature and read to our four children.  ALSO, for most of the
other subjects like history and some science, we do NOT use text books
but living books or good literature or classics, etc.  The lesson
plans we use, coordinate much of the literature to coincide with
history as well.
No we are NOT purists, but she does have a lot of good points.
