In addition to the SETLOCAL/ENDLOCAL approach, there is also a DIRECTORY
function in REXX which can be used to either query or change the current
directory as follows...

/* get current directory */

curdir = directory()

/* change directory */

newdir = directory("d:\dos\apps")

/* do whatever you need to do and then restore directory */

newdir = directory(curdir)
