RJT> TW> That is how it started I think .Like CP/M since then there are soem RJT> TW> non compatable implementations. BUT it is Still an Operating System RJT> TW> tha same as the mostly NON compatable versions of CP/M. RJT>What are you talking about with non-compatible versions of CP/M? The major RJT>differences were in the different manufacturers using different disk format RJT>but the OS itself, and most of the software, worked across all machines RJT>pretty much. There were programs (Uniform, Media Master) that worked to ge RJT>across disk formats, too. Well in my Experience the program compatability was poor Particularly with thc Major manfacturers. They DID slightly tweek their CP/M OS and delibertly wrote the programs to need those tweeks to LOCK YOU IN!! Thewre were of course some exceptions, THAT is why I used the word "SOME" i nmy post. The most notable one was KayPro and Commodore making their CP/M machines compatable with the Osborne CP/M that had a somewhat large base of programs to draw from. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
