subject: Mapping Comm ports over TCPIP LAN

Hi John,
 JL> Is there any way to map a comm port from one machine to

Sure is. Both Warp 3 Connect and Warp 4 can do this straight out of the box.
I use such a configuration almost on a daily basis, either between 2 machines
on the same LAN segment, or between 2 machines connected via routers and
using NETBIOS over TCP/IP.
 JL> In other words, I'd like to use a modem on another machine from my local

 JL> what about under TCPIP?
Keep the NETBIOS config in MPTS, add TCP/IP and NETBIOS over TCP/IP (this
protocol needs to be on the NEXT available level no. of the MPTS config,
because you can't have 2 NETBIOS entries at the same protocol level) and you
have the basics ready to roll. The next most difficult part is setting up the
NETBIOS mappings for each of the machine, but once done, it works a treat
(provided the IP link has enough bandwidth available)...........pk.
