Indeed. In fact, one could trace the nest box and potentially get a longer
(outdoor) breeding season in.

The costs were approximate and vary considerably upon the quality of the heat
tape. For an outdoor aviary I would consider only commercial grade in
conduit pipe sealed from moisture. It would last at least 20 years trouble
free (according to the manufactuerer). The stuff I used is in use in
sidewalks to melt ice and snow.
