True that they have to be executables, but I do know of one little thing that 
plays on a quirk in netscape to freeze your computer.  All they have to put 
in the netscape mail message is:
file:///aux
Netscape does the rest if  they click the link, freezing the computer, 
requiring reboot.  That's the only mail/virus I know of.
