-> Thanks for an excellant response Wayne.

-> What advantages stand out for installing Knoppix vs the CD version?

Well power outages won't wipe your setup.
Some stuff doesn't work in the ramdisk version especially the file
updates to bring it up to the latest release.

-> What do you suggest as the minimum functional size hard drive?

10 Gig.
Knoppix 3.3 uses over 2.5 gig.
You want to set a swap file to 128 Meg if you've that much
RAM or more.

I'm buying 80 Gig or better.
Remember, hardware modem, sound card and fairly standard video
required.

I ripped out my Sound card - Modem combo and replaced it with a Turtle
Beach hardware card I'd had and hooked up an external modem.

Once I'd done this everything autodetected and away I went
no problem.
