subject: Blazer 800VA UPS - anyone using?

Hi All,

After running without any UPS support for the past 24 years, I finally
had to get one [Blazer 800VA] because of continuing supply problems from
the power utility, and now that prices here in AU are becoming
reasonable [for those no longer in the workforce]. Here, the price was
approximately one third of the APC 800VA model!

Is anyone on the list running this equipment[original mfr. is
Centralion.com.tw]? The unit is a line-interactive model with smart
RS232 interface and has a web download of software for operating the
monitoring/intelligent shutdown functions - for Windoze and also a
reduced function set for Linux/BSD etc.

I wasn't able to deduce from the minimal included documentation, or from
the mfr.'s site whether this is a contact-closure type of operation, or
which of whatever other types there are, to determine whether it was
usable with one of the differing versions of Armin's [Lone Peak
Automation] free UPS-control products for OS/2. It's not in the current
list of other supported equipment, but may be compatible.

Mike
