Maxtor bought Quantum around 3 years ago. Fireball was the name of
Quantum 5400 RPM (& some 4500 RPM) drives since mid '90's, which carried
past the purchase to even now. Current Fireball designs may actually
still be Quantum engineered drives, or at least derived from those
designs.

I used to buy Quantum before the takeover. Now I buy either Seagate or
Hitachi. Maxtor drives commonly fail one or more of Trevor Hemsley's
Sysbench tests that Seagate, IBM & Hitachi have no problem with.
