You don't say how big your tank is and how many fish you have in it,
and from the discription you give I don't know what is killing them.
All I can give you is some general tips, which may help.
Change the water at regualer intervals, I do mine every 2 to 3 weeks
make sure you use a syphon tube that you push in to the gravel and get
a good % of the dirt out of the gravel.
I have a 4 foot tank with a power head and when changing the water I
take the water out down as far as the outlet of the power head and
refil the tank.
You could go to your local Aquarist store and he may know what it is
that the fish died from and may be able to help.
Try a ph test on the water it may be somthing like that,
Failing that I have no idea but I hope it helps.
Bye for now
