-> The other day I was grooming Fiddle and she was doing her ritual head
-> toss while I brushed her belly (ticklish I think). Anyway, she
-> somehow flipped the crosstie up over her ear. She had suddenly
-> stopped moving, so I looked up and there she was...never moved a
-> muscle..just stood there waiting for me to get around to unwrapping
-> her head! What a ditz!
I use to put a stud chain on the hook of Smokey's halter rope till we
lost it. Not to control him but for him to play with. He would flip it
around, chew on it, etc. He does the ritual head toss too but I think
he's bored not ticklish, sometimes he lets his lips flap and it sounds
so funny.
-> BTW, I actually got around to cantering her for the first time this
-> weekend...she was an angel! Of course we trotted into it, but once
-> she figured out what it was I was asking for, off she went at a nice,
-> calm canter! Anyone who tells you ground work and voice commands are
-> a waste of time.....have them give me a buzz!
Good for you. I thought you were suppose to trot into the canter the
first time. I was told, and it made sense to me, that this helped them
to balance themselves better. Ground work and voice commands a waste of
time? Should I have them call you before or after I'm through
laughing. I've observed that the better the rider the more time they
seem to spend on groundwork.
