That's a good start. From there, what Connie and I did once, is point to a
couple of overstuffed chairs in the lobby and say "We'll be over there
sleeping, wake us when there's a room available." Got us an immediate check-in
with an upgraded room, at 8/9am (the delay from the inter-island hop added some
time for us to get to...Kona IIRC). Wasn't really the plan...but what the
heck.

Title: Lazy Bbq Turkey

1 Turkey *
1 Onion
1 ts Dried thyme
1 ts Dried rosemary
1 ts Dried sage
1 Salt and pepper
* 8-14 pound
Remove giblets from turkey and set aside. Rinse and drain turkey.
Pat dry Using a roasting pan large enough to accommodate turkey
snugly, coat exterior liberally with liquid detergent. (This makes
cleaning pan easier. Place turkey in pan. Stud onion with cloves and
place inside turkey. Sprinkle outside of turkey with herbs and press
into skin. Tie turkey legs together. Pour 1/2 inch water into pan.
Using bbq foil or 2 layers of regular foil, cover turkey right to
edges of pan, sealing well. Place pan on medium-hot, 350 degrees bbq
grill and cook with lid down for 1-1/2 -2 hours or til meat
thermometer registers 185 degrees . If necessary, uncover turkey for
last 10 minutes to brown skin evenly. Remove from bbq. Let turkey
stand, tented with foil for 15 minutes before carving. If desired,
make gravy from pan drippings. Pour off any excess fat. Place pan
over high heat on stove. Add 1 cup water or turkey stock. Bring to a
boil, stirring to scrape up any brown bits from bottom. Season with
