Actually, they are not (better).

Devices coming in and with the new Thinkpads (on from T40, R50 etc...) 
are all the same (intel nic, Soundmax sound, internal modem, ATI 
graphics etc...).
So, differences between the Thinkpads aren't so much the internal 
devices but a bunch of external properties:

- Cases of the X- and T- series are made in Titanium, the R-series in 
alu and/or composit material.
- A better screen resolution and video card with more memory for the 
more expensive models.
- Smaller a screen hence smaller laptop (X-series) or larger a screen 
hence larger laptop (R series).

btw: The only thing we can't get working is the internal modem.
