ME>Thanks to my writing in Fidonet as well as by snailmail to many people in
ME>the USA I got rather well used to compare Fahrenheit to Celcius.
omparing

ME>really don't know them.
Metric is actually easier; for one thing, it is more logical. But I
grew up with the English Imperial Measures system, and it's still most
familiar.

ME> SP> beets today. Hope they are still good; there's half a bushel there.
ME>Just this week we had some frost during the nights but on next wednesday

n
ME>the southern part of Belgium.
After another cold snowy spell, we're back into mild weather again,
above freezing. And it's going to be milder yet. To those who express
astonishment over mild weather in December in this area, I say that I
have seen farmers ploughing fields at this time of year. Out west
(3000 miles away ), shrubs are blooming again. My daughter says it's
already like spring, but theirs doesn't really start till Feb.
My cylindra beets were damaged by continual freezes, and the tops of
them (especially the part that heaved out of the ground) were fibrous
and soft. The remainder were good, though, and I baked, peeled, and
froze them. My favourites are young fresh beets though. Shredded beets
, cooked or uncooked, make a nice salad. :-)
