There were a few audio artifacts through the introduction and the first song,
but those seemed to be problems with the original recordings.

Cable providers frequently mishandle 5.1 audio, so your situation is not
unexpected.    As I said, the surround mix isn't terribly special, so if 
one were having issues, they wouldn't lose much by turning off the digital 
inputs, and going with plain old stereo.
