Hullo all out there. My name is Jared Honore. I am writing this message
mainly to get comments/feedback from the knowledgeable ones among you! During
1996 I completed a course in Auckland, NZ and came out of it with a CPL with
about 175 hours, rated on a Cessna 152 and 172. This year I have been working
to help pay off my course costs from last year and to help keep me current,
if 1 flight every 2 months can count as being current!! Due to my low hours,
around 190 now, it is hard for me to get a look in at any jobs.
What ratings/courses would I be best advised to undertake to make myself more
attractive to employers. I have of course been talking to people at my
local airfield but there is always a bias towards one situation or another.
So any comments would be very appreciated. One other opportunity that has
arisen is the prospect of training to be an Air Traffic Controller. I am off
to the final selection phase this thursday and if successful will be offered
a place on the course for next year. I am getting rather distressed at the
lack of opportunity for myself getting jobs having so few hours and am
eaning
towards the ATC course if accepted. One other option is getting a degree in
business or something similar to make myself more attractive later on. I am
only 19 so I have time to make these decicisions although I dont want to make
the wrong ones that damage my opportunites, much less my wallet! Any feedback
would be apprecited, however if I just am wasting my time writing anything
in here, please tell me!! thanks for your valuable reading time.
Jared Honore
