04-11-05 07:11, Tom Walker told James Bradley about LinspireLive x BitTorren Well, how do, Tom? JB> -> Althouhg I may try the 3 CD set of Mandrake 10.0 that I have. JB>I wouldn't use Mandrake 10.0 as a reference, and I don't think other would JB>either. Well, maybe as a benchmark for what a disto *shouldn't* be. The CDs JB>used installed a buggy KDE-Koncorer, and there were many things that just JB>didn't sit right with me. If at all possible, try to up the minor version JB>number, as I read others are fine with that release. TW> What distribution would recommend other than Mandrake. TW> I picked it up becasue several told me it was somewhat good as far as TW> the Uniniated installing it. Just that I heard 10.0 (At least their "Community" release.) was a little dogged, and I too found a number of "Bombs" dropped when I was running it. I used Mandrake 6.0 and I found it a lot better than the 10.0c. For the plug and go, I have had good experience so far with Fedora, and SimplyMEPIS. The later is a so called Live CD, that you can boot from the CD, and keep your work in RAM. Knoppix has good reports, but I haven't been able to boot it yet. Likely just a minimum requirement I'm not meeting. It too is a Live CD. I'm no authority though, so you'd have to look elsewhere for further recommendations. ... Mad: Tosses computer from window.
