JB> Just that I heard 10.0 (At least their "Community" release.) was a little JB>dogged, and I too found a number of "Bombs" dropped when I was running it. JB>used Mandrake 6.0 and I found it a lot better than the 10.0c. For the plug a JB>go, I have had good experience so far with Fedora, and SimplyMEPIS. The late JB>is a so called Live CD, that you can boot from the CD, and keep your work in JB>RAM. Knoppix has good reports, but I haven't been able to boot it yet. Likel JB>just a minimum requirement I'm not meeting. It too is a Live CD. JB> I'm no authority though, so you'd have to look elsewhere for further JB>recommendations. I have tried several releases of KNOPPIX. My first couple of trys were disasters. But very revent;ly I did get 3.4 to print form a printer. Haven't tried a Internet connect yet. But it seems that it is still quite convoluted to get things working. It seemed like the Printer instal shound have been far easier as an example. Yuo really had to hunt arround and there were too many steps. AFTER all the Printer was identified correctly. WHY all the additional steps after you mark the Identy as correct? Shouldn't it charge ahead and install the driver?? Of course I have installed Windows on quite a few machine but installing a printer should be "Rocket Scientist" stuff. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
