Geo, I've forgotten the exact details now, but East Orange, NJ now has
cameras that are accessible to residents via their PCs (they have to sign
up to get in as I recall) and can be manipulated (by the police only I
think) as in direction and zoom. And have automatic zoom and turn if
gunshots are heard.

The idea is that Harriet Housewife can watch the cameras instead of the
soaps and call in any suspicious activity to the cops in real time
