The basic problem with the .45 Colt is that warm loads would really
benefit from a gas-check bullet, and there aren't all that many
gas-check designs in .45 caliber.
For example, Lee offers three .44 molds with a gas-check base, and only
one or two .45 molds, with no gas-check bases.
