I like it.   It will help keep the government honest.

Let's face it, privacy is a thing of the past. All we can do is try to make
sure that the government doesn't abuse the information they are gathering
and prevent them from monopolizing it.

FWIW, public surveillance cameras were everywhere and their contents were
for sale in David Brin's recent "Kiln People".  The cameras were
in integral part of what was an excellent SF detective story.
