RJT> TW> Darn. A couple of months ago I just took some to the Computer
RJT> TW> Recycling Fair they had in Spring Valley California.
RJT> TW> Looks like "E" bay time. :-)

RJT>Computer recycling fair? How did that work? I was looking at a web site a
RJT>while back for an outfit that did this sort of thing, where they charged
RJT>people fees to take their old computers. Imagine that, getting bunches of
RJT>computer junk to play with and getting money for taking it, too! I don't
RJT>quite have a grip on how that would work, though...

I have taken stuff to two in recent years. They are sponsored by either
a City or the county Goverment. They were held in high School Parking
lots and take all Computers,Computer perfierals, and Electronic Ite
ms(TV/VCR etc) with NO charge for Disposal. There are several Computer
Recycling companies in this area but they Charge to take Monitors and
TV's. Some par a little by the pound for the computer itself.
It is an attempt to keep them out of hte Landfill. Two overiding
reasons. First is the Lead and Heavy Metals involver contaminatinf the
ground water. The other is that most places are running out of space to
dump stuff. Here for a while they were Hauling Trash over to Arizona.
But that was a plan to back haul sand as the Nutcakes have shut down
almost all the river bed Sand operations basicly and there is a shortage
for use in Cement, Plaster, and Stucco. They did bring sand i nform
Tecate Mexico for a while but the Nutcakes here joined with the Nutcakes
down their and shut down that operation.
