A fair question. When you're new to this it feels a bit like ordering
food at a restaurant where they won't show you the menu.
I believe we've ascertained that you're using Raspbian (Debian Linux for
the Pi) which uses the LXDE desktop, which is built with GTK+ ... so why
not take a look at GTK+?

why not take a look and see whether it's the sort of thing that you
think you're likely to like?
