The VCII+/RS is ancient. How much would've have cost GI to add the VCII+/RS
to the internal design of the 4DTV?
I wonder.
Here we are pushing a piece of 80's hardware into a late 90's piece of
hardware.
After all these years what would it have cost for them to simply... oh
well....
After all, they want to eventually get rid of the VCII+ datastream. And if
that occurs, what will that huge cavity be good for that was designed in the
4DTV for the insertion of a VCII+/RS module? Could it really be used for
anything else? Surely no one else would see this as being a waiting market.
And even if someone did, would they have to pay GI or is the interface
hardware design non-GI?
I just hate to buy a bulbous piece of hardware that has a huge cavity for a
decoder that they probably could have put into the 4DTV for less than 20
dollars. And to make their unit without that bulbous orifice....
It wouldn't be that hard for the programmers to shift the programming to the
new units.
