To my surprise, I leaned for other messages, that the phone company
did something right. And added the *02 to turn off the voice message, and
therefore I now get just the normal busy signal.

Yes, mine can do that, but in this case I had a voice message and a
busy signal together. With all those wonderful, convenient, and very
important new features {Is there a symbol for sarcasm?}, the phone
companies keeps adding to our lines for just a pittance, (50 cents here ,
25 cents there, etc.). One of these days, the modem will really have a
conflict. If we don't go bankrupt first. :-(
*** I would like to thank all who took the time to answer my question. ***
My modem is now working right :))
