Hi Teresa,
I know what you mean about cutting the hardanger.!!! You just have to make 
sure the kloster blocks are exactly placed. Then you cut the four threads 
along each satin stitch and pull them out. Once you have cut and it's wrong 
you can basically "kiss the piece goodby".
