It's not the price, it's the culture. A bus ticket here costs $1.25 and is
good for unlimited travel for about 4 hours. That's about half what it cost
me 10 years ago for a one-way ticket on a Manchester bus.
The buses are clean and quick, the drivers are friendly and the service
coverage is good. Even so, my friends think I'm weird because I catch a bus
to go to the bar instead of driving (yes, I do have a car;).">http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/">car;).
People in England are just a lot more comfortable with using public
transport, and already pay relatively high prices compared to the USA.
