If I were you I'd hustle over to the site for MacBeat (a store). They
have a lot of good advice on the different programs there, including a
very useful Hypercard stack full of great explanations.

Before you go with Performer be sure to have a look at Opcode's
Vision/Studio Vision Pro software.
