123c599108ce tech Hello Roy - --8<--cut RJT>> but that's not the case for most of what I do here, which RJT>> tends to bottleneck with communication speeds (both LAN RJT>> and modem), and with storage space, which is why my next RJT>> project is going to be the server I've started but RJT>> haven't gotten around to finishing yet. CA>> 100 ten gig hard drives in a RAID configuration? ;-) RJT> Got _one_ that size so far, and it's IDE. Of SCSI, I have RJT> a 4.3G, I think, and a bunch of 2G. And a full tower case RJT> and a nice DPT card. Finding a SCSI cable that'll support RJT> more than 4 devices is a bit more difficult than I'd RJT> expected, so my plan at this point is to use the external RJT> connector and run it back into the box, at least for now. RJT> Donations of hardware will be gladly accepted, RJT> particularly 10G or larger drives. :-) This also relates to my other reply about finding media that will last and preserve our data. If you are like me you have data and software dating back to your 'begining' interest in computers. I have 100s possibly 1000s of 5 1/4" floppy disks from the old 360k format up to the 1.2meg format in boxes and am thinking a great deal of the data is already lost (won't read). I have _one_ machine with a 5 1/4 floppy drive in it (an old 286) and am wondering how long it would take me to transfer all of them over to CDs. The other problem is how long the CDs will last if/when I do this. I'm not convinced that many people would care about what I have preserved on those floppies but I just don't like the idea of all that software fading away. :-( > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
