DL>    SearchCount = FINDBUFENTRIES;

The third message (where I suspect DosFindFirst was eventually called)
never made it to my system.

Q: Are you searching for more than one file at a time with FindFirst()?

This is clearly more efficient, but I HAVE seen a bug with this, ONLY on
remote drives, with MS LanMan 2.x, which shares most of its code with LS
3.0.

The bug is something like this: If you ask for 100 files, it will return,
say , 50 files but incorrectly update the number of "files
found". In one case, I think it even wrote past the end of my
findbuffer. The solution was to search for files the old-fashioned way,one
at a time. Try this and see if the problem goes away.

A useful test program is one that recurses your whole remote drive (to
count the total number of files) using FindFirst/next 100 files at a time,
then the same search 1 file at a time --- the result will be different if
you are seeing this bug.   If you find it,  send the test program to IBM;
I never bothered to complain to MS about the problem,since they have
abondoned LanServer.
